What the World Asks ChatGPT

& China's Pharma Makeover Is Going Global

 What’s ChatGPT Actually Being Asked?

With 800 million monthly active users, ChatGPT is a digital Swiss Army knife—capable of helping you debug Python, break down Keynesian economics, or explain the Peloponnesian War. But what are people actually asking it? According to new Sensor Tower data, software development still leads the pack, accounting for 29% of all prompts—though that’s down from 44% a year ago, as more casual and non-tech users enter the fold.

Coming in second: history and society, now making up 15% of prompts—reflecting curiosity beyond just coding. AI and machine learning follow closely behind. But the biggest climber? Economics, finance, and tax, now at 13%, up from just 4% last year. Whether it’s market trends, inflation queries, or crypto takes, money questions are clearly gaining traction.

This evolving mix highlights how ChatGPT is becoming more than just a developer tool—it’s morphing into an everyday co-pilot across life, work, and curiosity. As user behavior diversifies, the assistant’s role is shifting from niche productivity aid to full-blown knowledge concierge.

Apple’s Pencil May Soon Write in Thin Air

Apple just patented a futuristic Apple Pencil that could draw in mid-air or on any surface — not just an iPad. The new design, titled "Input Device With Optical Sensors," uses cutting-edge optical flow and laser speckle tracking to detect motion without touching a screen.

This stylus could track movement up to 10 cm above surfaces like wood, paper, or even walls, and may include features like gesture control, handwriting detection, and 3D object creation. One proposed version uses a rolling trackball tip, monitored by internal sensors, to improve accuracy while minimizing scratching or wear.

Perhaps most intriguingly, Apple’s patent shows Pencil support extending to the iPhone, MacBook, Apple Watch, and even the Vision Pro headset. While this tech might not launch tomorrow, it signals Apple’s push into spatial computing and system-level control — turning the humble stylus into a next-gen wand.

China’s Pharma Industry Steps Into the Global Spotlight

China’s pharmaceutical companies are evolving from generic manufacturers to global innovators. Firms like Junshi Biosciences and Innovent Biologics are earning FDA approvals and developing original treatments in areas like cancer and autoimmune diseases. One of the early exemplars of Chinese innovation is a cell therapy that has shown promise to potentially cure a deadly blood cancer.

This shift is powered by government support, a strong domestic market, and a return of globally trained scientists. Since 2020, nearly 20 China-developed drugs have been approved overseas, signaling a major transformation in the country’s R&D capabilities.

Big Pharma is paying attention. Companies like Pfizer and Merck are licensing Chinese drugs, while investors pour billions into biotech hubs across Shanghai and Suzhou. With more AI-powered research and international partnerships, China’s pharma future is increasingly outward-looking.
